National School Pride (NSP) Program
National School Pride program will provide funding to every Australian school – primary and secondary, government and non-government to
undertake construction of small scale infrastructure and/or minor refurbishment projects.
With water shortages throughout Victoria this now places severe restrictions on the ability of school and similar educational institutes to maintain an area for students.
School playgrounds are not only barren, dry dirt and dust bowls but in summer the ground itself becomes effectively like concrete creating inherent problems in itself - injuries such as scrapes and grazes are often prevalent and other more extreme injuries such as breaks have caused some schools to rule 'out of bounds' those areas where students liked to congregate during their breaks in the day.
Of course winter then brings other problems. With no grass to bind the dirt any rain just turns the area into mud - and students then track this throughout the school building, causing even greater headaches!
